Medical Assistant II

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II to work in our new Urbandale Clinic. Our medical assistants are responsible to help a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensure patient care standards are met and provide access to additional care options. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. Responsibilities

• Support the Urbandale Clinic and float to multiple locations/clinics based on staffing needs.
• Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
• Perform technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
• Utilize electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment as needed.
• Work in a multidisciplinary environment to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certification as a Medical Assistant OR Registration as a Medical Assistant OR Completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
• Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous (minimum 2 year) experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience in a pediatric clinic or pediatric/adult specialty clinic.
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Computer skills and ability to navigate EMR Epic, Word, etc.

Additional Details

• Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)
• Schedule: Variable hours 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday; no weekends, no on call, no holidays
• Location: Urbandale, IA
• Pay Range: $40,903.92 – $60,760.80 (based on years of experience)
