Position Summary

The Senior Trade Marketing Manager plays a critical role at the intersection of sales, marketing, and retail execution. Their objective is to drive brand growth and product visibility in retail environments (e.g., grocery, convenience, specialty, and mass merchandise stores) by developing and executing go-to-market strategies that align with brand goals and retailer needs. This role leads marketing strategies with priority retail partners and collaborates with Sales, Marketing Go-to-Market, and Creative teams to develop joint business plans that elevate brand presence and accelerate sell-through for the retail channel. This requires strategic thinking, partnership management, and flawless execution.

Responsibilities

Develop the retail trade marketing strategy that supports national brand objectives while being tailored for specific retailers and channels (e.g., Target, Vitamin Shoppe, Scheels, Harmons, etc.). Build annual and quarterly customer-specific plans in collaboration with sales and brand marketing. Identify regional opportunities and adapt strategies based on local trends, competitor activity, and sales performance.

Shopper & Category Insights

Leverage shopper behavior data, syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, IRI), and customer insights to inform retail activation plans. Partner with the retail team to influence planograms and shelf strategies. Use insights to design promotions and campaigns that convert shoppers at the point of sale.

Trade Promotions & Budget Management

Own the trade marketing budget and ensure ROI-driven allocation across key accounts and initiatives. Design and execute in-store promotions, temporary price reductions (TPRs), endcaps, displays, and feature opportunities. Analyze trade spend effectiveness, collaborating with finance on post-event analysis and reporting. Serve as a key point of contact for trade marketing with retail partners, aligning on joint business plans and promotional calendars. Deliver tailored marketing materials and ensure proper execution in retail channels. Co-develop customer-specific programs (e.g., loyalty tie-ins, new item launches) in partnership with national accounts.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Work closely with: Sales to align execution with account goals and field needs; Brand Marketing to ensure brand consistency in retail activations; Creative/Design Teams to develop in-store assets; Operations/Supply Chain to ensure availability of promotional inventory.

Qualifications

7+ years experience in channel marketing, retail marketing, or shopper marketing, preferably within CPG or related industries. Deep understanding of retail dynamics in CPG: shopper behavior, channel differences, retail operations. Strong analytical capability to assess promotion performance, category trends, and ROI. Experience with tools such as IRI/Nielsen, Spins, Numerator, and POS data. Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills. Creativity in developing shopper-centric activations that meet retailer objectives. Proven track record of developing and executing co-marketing programs that drive awareness and sell-through. Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias towards action. Passion for a high-performance lifestyle. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with opportunities for professional development. Benefits include Unlimited PTO, $1,000 annual perks program, generous holidays (17 days of office closure in 2025), Finish Line Fridays (finish at 3:00pm every Friday), and access to Momentous products and merchandise.
