Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates design leadership in collaborative brainstorms (e.g. bringing meaningful ideas & stimulus, sketches, positive team encouragement, building on others ideas).
  • Understand and contribute to the development of a strategic brand positioning: consumer profiles, brand positioning, brand stories, brand architecture, brand character, tone or voice, visual spaces, and ensure strategic intent is met throughout the design process.
  • Able to visualize strategic intent (bring information to life in a clear and meaningful way).
  • Understand and contribute to the development of brand identity systems and lead brand guideline development.
  • Provide inspiration and direction to ensure high quality execution from a team that brings to life a creative brief, co-developed with the Creative Director.
  • Review and curate design directions from the team, and make recommendations to the Creative Director.
  • Be a category thought leader (stay in the know on category developments, competitive news, trends and opportunities) & share knowledge.
  • Lead team critiques in partnership with Creative Director.
  • Develop and prepare presentations.
  • Independent ownership of specified projects or brands at an initiative level (ask for input and guidance where appropriate or at major milestones).
  • Demonstrates problem solving & design thinking to deliver quality solutions every time.

Design Execution

  • Contributes advanced design skills across projects (typography, layout, color, etc.) with a focus on expanding skill set into new categories, brands or aesthetics.
  • Takes ownership over the quality of the team contributions.
  • Demonstrates quality aesthetic with a high taste level and can locate and curate outside resources (photographers, illustrators, typographers).
  • Reviews and checks work before work leaves the studio in partnership with Creative Director.

Production

  • Full understanding of print production processes & category specific print technologies.
  • liaises with PPM, Production Manager and Senior Designer at key approval milestones to ensure quality.

Administrative

  • Partner to develop initiative timelines and resourcing for projects with Creative Director and PM.
  • Ensure that files & inputs collected by PM meet the project needs before the project starts.
  • Ensure jobs & job parts are up to date in project management system in partnership with PM.
  • Lead project-related design conversations with clients.
  • Manage client relationship on an initiative level, beyond initial briefing.
  • Confirm brief, scope and deliverables with client.
  • Aware of full client structure and actively cultivate relationships with client group.
  • Participate in client presentations and collaboratively develop a recap next steps with Creative Director or PM.

Process

  • Pro-actively monitor and improve the design process.
  • Executional filter between JR, Designer, Sr Designer before sharing with Creative Director and Strategist.
  • Where appropriate, delegate AD tasks and responsibilities to team members to optimize use of resources.
  • Understand/internalize clear scope and deliverables based on client briefs, partner to assign tasks to accomplish deliverables.
  • Fluent in industry, category and professional terminology.

Team

  • Provide on-the-job guidance and training for designers within project teams.
  • Look for opportunities to contribute to broader team development (sharing inspiration, knowledge, technology, etc.).
  • Responsible for bringing in Creative Director at key junctures for input and approvals.

Studio

  • Personally contribute and encourage others to contribute to knowledge sharing with local and international offices.
  • Identify or seed opportunities for providing more services to clients.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and training for directors and designers within project teams. Contribute to organizational knowledge of the client and its markets by regularly sharing insights gained during projects.
  • Build desired culture and professionalism through leading by example.

Salary: $120,000 + Bonus
