Overview

A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain a positive relationship with all clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment setup is working properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with other staff and outside vendors; apply floor up-selling techniques and assist with client invoicing; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.

  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • 1 year of audiovisual experience or equivalent in an educational environment is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for team members who may operate Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel: Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and/or dust. Working conditions may be moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will use high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components and may work at heights via lifts and ladders; may work at multiple hotel locations with irregular hours, on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore.

Warehouse: Work is performed at event venues and in a warehouse environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and dirt/dust. Conditions may be moderately quiet to noisy. High-end AV equipment and electrical components are used; irregular hours and on-call status may apply.

Hourly Pay Range: $18.11 - $22.18. Compensation is determined by location and other factors; some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses or incentives. Encore provides benefits options for employees worldwide.
