Job Description

As an Advisor - Events Planner, you will be a key player in orchestrating events that bring our partners’ visions into reality. You will coordinate with three territory office teams (Detroit, Columbus and Indianapolis), Divisional Leadership, enterprise employees, and global donors of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You will collaborate with enterprise stakeholders to craft iconic St. Jude Signature Events (Galas, Golf, Dinners) using industry best practices to deliver seamless and engaging experiences that deepen the St. Jude mission.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Oversee logistics for Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia Territories St. Jude Signature Events (Dinners, Golf, Galas).
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to create engaging, entertaining, and mission-centered event experiences.
  • Expense Management: Manage expenses and develop creative cost-saving measures.
  • Problem Solving: Address varied, complex, and often non-recurring problems with novel and creative resolutions.
  • Policy Adherence: Perform duties within ALSAC policies and procedures; analyze problems and needs; adapt guidelines to achieve results; make recommendations; refer exceptions to policy to the supervisor.
  • Event Management: Provide strategic resources for logistics management of internal/external events and meetings for small to medium donor groups, staff, volunteers, patient families, and guests. Responsible for event design, décor, food/beverage, and vendor management for mid to high-tier events. Collaborate with Marketing to secure branded St. Jude collateral.
  • Research & Negotiation: Conduct market research, gather information, and negotiate. Use project management skills to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Efficiency: Research, analyze, and recommend efficiencies to support cost savings.
  • Customer Service: Proactively handle issues and troubleshoot on event day. Liaise with clients/committee members to identify needs and ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Seating and auction software experience preferred.
  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred; Event Professional Certification helpful.
  • In lieu of educational requirements, may substitute 7-8 years of related work experience.
  • Travel: 30%
  • A valid driver’s license is required. The role includes a company car with AAA membership, insurance coverage, a maintenance plan, and a fuel card. Personal use is allowed; inquire during the interview for details.
