Are you excited to create a welcoming library experience where families, neighbors, youth, and teens learn, connect, and thrive? Arapahoe Libraries is seeking (2) part-time bilingual Library Specialists to provide inclusive service and build meaningful connections with patrons. You will help visitors of all ages access resources, technology, and programs, while supporting Spanish speaking community members and making everyone feel at home.
About the Role
Sheridan Library is a busy neighborhood branch located near local schools, making it a popular destination after school. You will interact with patrons of all ages, with a high number of youth and teens visiting daily. Many of our patrons are Spanish speaking, and this role ensures they have full access to resources, programs, and technology in a welcoming environment. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys a lively, high sensory space and thrives on building relationships with the community.
Key Responsibilities
Patron Assistance and Community Engagement
- Greet and proactively assist library visitors with account inquiries, resources, programs, and events
- Provide basic reference and advisory services in both English and Spanish to help patrons access collections and genres
- Support a safe and welcoming environment by setting expectations for library use and de-escalating concerns when needed
- Build relationships with patrons to strengthen the library's role in the community
- Collaborate with staff to connect patrons to specialized services
Technology Assistance
- Assist patrons with library computers, printers, and other devices as well as e resources and online databases
- Provide support for basic technology troubleshooting and reservable spaces with AV equipment
- Provide guidance and instruction in both English and Spanish, helping patrons confidently access information
Materials Handling and Library Environment
- Maintain and merchandise library collections and displays
- Process, shelve, and manage materials and holds using library systems
- Straighten and tidy spaces to ensure a welcoming experience for patrons
Learning and Development
- Stay current on library resources, trends, and technology to better serve patrons
- Share patron feedback and observations to improve services
- Collaborate with staff to meet district wide and branch goals

Qualifications
Required:
- One year of customer service, library, or education or teaching experience
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide assistance and resources in both languages
- Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Basic technology skills for Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
- Ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds
Preferred:
- Experience working with children and teens
Schedule Requirements
There are (2) part-time positions available, one for 20 hours per week and one for 30 hours per week. Each role follows a consistent, team focused schedule that includes working every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and closing at least one evening shift per week. Schedules are provided in advance to support balance, flexibility, and excellent service for the community.
