The Evelyn S. Field Library at RVCC is currently seeking a part-time Library Page.

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Public Services Coordinator and the overall direction of the Library Director, the Library Page covers the library public services desk, performs circulation functions in accordance with library policies, shelves library materials, and assists in keeping the library tidy.

Essential Duties

• Covers the circulation department during assigned hours, performing opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Checks materials in and out and conducts other circulation desk functions such as collecting fines, and registering public patrons using the library's automated system.
• Ensure that patron areas are tidy and stocked with supplies.
• Provide optimal customer service to all library patrons. Answers patrons' general questions and telephone inquiries and/or refers to the librarian on duty. Assists patrons in use of printers, scanners, and computers.
• Sorts and shelves library materials using Library of Congress Classification system.
• Follows and implements established policies and procedures of the college and the Library.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a current full-time or part-time RVCC student with Federal Work Study eligibility.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Commitment to public service is critical.
• Experience using MS Office.
• Knowledge of library automated systems and library classification systems is desirable.
• Ability to work 12 hours/week on RVCC's campus.

The physical activities of this position include kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing book carts weighing 75-100 pounds, lifting books to an overhead position.
