Your Role

We’re looking for a User Experience Design Manager who’s passionate about building powerful digital experiences for high school coaches, athletes, and their teams. At Hudl, you’ll lead the design of products that help organizations run more effectively—whether it’s through video analysis, team management tools, or recruiting opportunities. As part of a dynamic team, you’ll shape the future of high school sports by creating solutions that empower teams to train smarter, compete harder, and grow stronger together.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on the customer. You’ll shape, conduct and translate user research to understand needs beyond what users say they want, digging deeper into the “why” behind user feedback. You’ll create actionable insights that drive physical and digital product experience strategy and design.
  • Be a coach. You’ll manage and professionally develop a small team of designers, mentoring them on soft and hard skills and helping them achieve career goals.
  • Be a visual and verbal storyteller. You’ll craft and communicate compelling concepts that are forward-facing, differentiated, and relevant to customer and business needs.
  • Add clarity to ambiguous problem spaces. You’ll identify important user characteristics, environments and market expectations to support prioritized and intuitive experiences.
  • Collaborate. You’ll partner with Engineering, Product, Design, Scrum and Quality to define requirements and deliver clear digital user experiences.
  • Design process, quality and delivery. You’ll advocate for tactility, accessibility, and design excellence, shepherding projects to release and measuring the results against design and product needs.

We'd like to hire someone for this role who lives near our offices in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, but we’re open to remote candidates in Kansas City, Chicago, Austin, Dallas or Phoenix.

Must-Haves

  • Strong communicator. You thrive in a collaborative environment with excellent presentation skills and the ability to sell ideas based on solid rationale. You’re comfortable giving and receiving feedback respectfully.
  • Management track record. You’ve led at least one designer as a direct report. Mentorship experience will be considered.
  • Iterative prototyping skills. You’re proficient with low and high fidelity prototyping tools and wireframing techniques, including modern AI-powered prototyping platforms.
  • A problem-solver. You think critically about user interactions and address complex design challenges within technical, business and design constraints.
  • Organizational skills. You can plan the appropriate level of design and research to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Technical proficiency. You’ve used modern component-based design software (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and tools like Miro to workshop concepts with remote stakeholders.
  • A robust portfolio. You can showcase a range of UX design projects including user flows, wireframes, prototypes and final designs.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Research and insights experience. Planned and conducted qualitative and quantitative user research and translated insights into actionable outcomes. Proficient with various research methodologies.
  • A sports enthusiast. Understands the unique challenges within sports technology.
  • Growth mindset. Stays up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies and design best practices, and seeks to continuously learn.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. Flexible vacation, holidays, timeout days, remote options, and more to support personal life.
  • Guarantee autonomy. Open, honest culture; you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. Resources and opportunities to keep growing as a professional.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. Offices with great spaces; remote work supported with necessary tech.
  • Support your mental and physical health. Employee Assistance Program, resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit.
  • Cover your medical insurance. Multiple plans including vision, dental, fertility and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). 4% match on your contribution.
