Overview
At Databricks, we enable data teams to solve world’s toughest problems by building and running the data and AI infrastructure platform. We are the UI Platform team, empowering frontend developers to build features and supporting hundreds of frontend developers weekly. We own the dev loop and related frontend production monitoring, using technologies such as Typescript, React, GraphQL, yarn, node, and webpack.
We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Leader to spearhead one of two major initiatives in the UI Platform: 1) enabling developers to go from idea to code in production in 24 hours, including the dev loop and production delivery; and 2) Single Pane of Glass, unifying various Databricks components into one easy-to-use experience. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead a talented engineering team in UI Platform focused on one of the above initiatives.
- Oversee sustained recruitment of top-tier talent and develop team members.
- Build processes to implement product vision and strategy aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
- Build software that is high quality and easy to operate.
- Manage technical debt, including long-term architectural decisions, and balance the product roadmap.
What We Look For
- 5+ years of hands-on web frontend development experience, with a strong preference for React-based applications.
- 2+ years leading and managing a high-performing engineering team.
- Passion for infrastructure, tooling, developer productivity, or performance optimization and the ability to drive technical initiatives that improve efficiency and code quality.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent at various levels.
- Experience setting and achieving ambitious team goals aligned with company objectives.
- Strong track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple locations.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, evolving tech environment.
Pay and Benefits
Local pay range: $182,400—$247,000 USD. The total compensation package may include annual bonus, equity, and benefits. Location and other factors influence the exact offer.
