Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $36.08-$80.98/hr. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate near the top of the full range for a position.

Position Summary
The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. The Staff Nurse I engages with patients and families to advocate for the patient, develops an educational plan, and collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care. The staff member participates in organizational and departmental leadership activities and supports unit goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and update the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient’s family.
- Share information and collaborate with the health care team to promote effective patient care.
- Verify and implement orders from physicians and other providers; document accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engage patients and families to develop appropriate educational plans.
- Recognize symptoms, establish priorities, and respond to changing patient needs.
- Delegate appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provide guidance to support personnel.
- Advocate for patients, families, the community, and the nursing profession.
- Integrate knowledge, evidence-based research, and current standards of practice to provide quality patient care as defined by nursing quality standards and governing bodies.
- Assume Charge Nurse role when assigned and utilize appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with nurses to identify, promote, and provide learning experiences for staff and students.
- Serve as preceptor or resource to nursing staff, support staff, and students.
- Pursue continued professional growth by identifying learning needs and taking steps to address them.
- Other duties as assigned, including participation in special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current BLS
- ACLS & PALS Certifications required.
- 40 hours M-F with 10-hour shifts; rotating day off during the week.
- Rotating on-call M-F, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) to facilitate therapeutic relationships among patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
