We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

to support students with visual impairments across school districts in Ohio. This position will deliver specialized instruction and services virtually, ensuring that students receive equitable access to the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals. Key Responsibilities:

Provide virtual direct instruction to students with visual impairments (PreK12) in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt and modify instructional materials for accessibility.

Conduct virtual functional vision assessments and learning media assessments.

Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress reports in accordance with Ohio Department of Education guidelines.

Assist with the selection and use of assistive technology, including screen readers, braille devices, magnification tools, and educational software.

Provide consultation and support to families, caregivers, and school personnel.

Ensure compliance with IDEA, ADA, and state special education regulations.

Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team meetings via video conferencing.

Maintain accurate records and documentation through secure, digital platforms.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelors or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.

Valid

Ohio Intervention Specialist: Visually Impaired

(P-12) teaching license.

Experience in virtual instruction or a strong willingness to learn remote tools and platforms.

Familiarity with braille (UEB), Nemeth Code, and accessible educational materials.

Preferred: Certification in Orientation and Mobility (COMS) is a plus.

Experience with virtual IEP platforms (e.g., ProgressBook, IEP Anywhere).

Proficiency in using assistive technologies like JAWS, VoiceOver, NVDA, and refreshable braille displays.

Technical Requirements:

Reliable high-speed internet connection.

Access to a secure, distraction-free workspace.

Proficiency with virtual platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).

Ability to use learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas).
