Overview
Social Media Manager job at House of Malarkey. San Diego, CA.
We’re looking for a creative, organized, and flexible
Social Media Manager
to join our team and help bring personality, strategy, and consistency to two engaging brands:
A growing podcast
that explores life and relationships through the lens of a Gen X and a Millennial in love—navigating everything from intimacy and parenting to cultural shifts and chaos.
A well-known chef’s personal brand
that blends culinary expertise with an engaging, real-life presence.
This role is
fully remote , part-time to start (with potential to grow), and ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and can pivot quickly when needed.
Responsibilities For the podcast:
Listen to weekly episodes and give direction to our editor on which moments to pull for social clips.
Collaborate on tone, voice, and content strategy—help us highlight what really resonates.
Post weekly clips across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.).
For the chef’s personal brand:
Help create a posting strategy to build engagement and tell a cohesive brand story.
Assist with editing short-form video content like Reels and TikToks.
Manage weekly posting and content planning.
Keep a pulse on trends and offer creative, outside-the-box content ideas.
You might be a great fit if you:
Have experience managing social media for podcasts, creators, or personal brands.
Are fluent in short-form video trends and know what performs across different platforms.
Communicate clearly, take initiative, and enjoy collaboration.
Have a strong sense of humor and love adding personality to your work.
Think strategically about how content builds brand and community—not just how it looks on the grid.
Are flexible and comfortable with occasional short-notice needs.
Bonus points
Have experience working with chefs, lifestyle brands, or entertainment personalities.
Know your way around tools like Canva, CapCut, or basic video editing software.
Can write captions that feel human, engaging, and on-brand.
This is a contract role with flexible hours, ideal for someone who wants to grow with us and be part of a team that values creativity, clarity, and connection.
Interested?
Send us a quick note about yourself, a link to your portfolio or social media work, and anything else that you think would help you stand out.
