Must be a U.S citizen Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Drone Pilot to join the team. The Drone Pilot will support the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTFTC), Tactical Training Exercise Control Group (TTECG) (the ‘Coyotes’), and Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) as required. Work with the Exercise Design and Control Staffs to develop a video support plan to enable the drone’s use for capturing critical actions on the ground in the most effective and transparent manner, while adhering to range and airspace safety regulations. The MAGTFTC mission is to Manage the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Program (MAGTFTP) and conduct MAGTF combined arms training to enhance the combat readiness of operating forces and support the Marine Corps’ national security responsibilities. Key Accountabilities
Act as a Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) for UAS up to 55 pounds. Prepare, preflight inspect and post flight service all UAS and related equipment required to complete events. Plan for optimal employment of the UAS in support of the desired collection efforts while not interfering with the training audience. Provide continuous video coverage of training events for up to four hours, which may require overlapping and simultaneous drone employment given standard drone battery life limitations. Develop contingency plans in the event of drone malfunction. Record key events during training events based on briefs and receive dynamic instructions via radio. Anticipate and communicate drone operating limitations to the government client as required; if wind, lighting, or other environmental conditions preclude drone use, inform all points of contact as soon as possible. Download drone video footage to a computer for subsequent editing. Support the creation of exercise support products, orders products, and assessment tools and products and their ability to command and control operations. Assist the MAGTF Training SMEs and MAGTFTC Exercise Control and Design Staff with inputs into order and scenario product development. Perform other duties as assigned. Certification
Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate OR DOD BUQ 1/2 certification A minimum of 100 hours of logged flight hours as a Remote Pilot in Command. Desired Skills
Experience with multiple UAS platforms and various levels of automation. Able to operate a two-way radio, know basic military and aviation terminology. Knowledge of video codecs and types of removable media. Familiarity with the EMS spectrum. Valid US driver’s license. Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Mount/dismount vehicles in a field environment Bivouac in field environment Climb/descend rocky mountainous terrain Perform job in hot desert environment Ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs in urban training environment Lift and carry up to 75 lbs over short distance (such as a loaded backpack) Garrison work environment including but not limited to field/tactical environments Occasional extended working hours/overnight bivouac may be required during Force on Force exercises. Travel
