The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. This is a full-time clinical position in Comprehensive Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Duties And Responsibilities

The Division Director and/or Department Chair assigns work. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee. The academic mission of the department should be supported, with opportunities to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. Service commitments include service at OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected, as is participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations. Requirements

Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role. Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Comprehensive Ophthalmology. Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications. Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students is required. They will have earned an MD, DO, PhD or other terminal degree. Clinical faculty are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years, with potential for reappointment. Their principal focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care and may include teaching and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) – includes titles such as assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have tenure. They may also be involved in clinical care. Research Faculty (regardless of rank) – includes titles such as research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor.
