Lead Dog Recruiting has partnered with a fast-growing medical device company in Irvine to find a talented and versatile Industrial Designer to join their R&D team. This is a unique opportunity to shape products that improve lives across domestic and global markets—blending softgoods and hardgoods design into seamless, user-focused solutions. You’ll work hands-on with textiles, foams, plastics, and metals, while collaborating with passionate industrial designers, mechanical engineers, marketing, and manufacturing partners to transform bold ideas from sketch to full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities Develop and present
2D and 3D design concepts
for review and iteration Design, prototype, and test product concepts, materials, and functionality Translate
Product Requirement Documents (PRDs)
into practical design solutions Collaborate cross-functionally to align designs with performance, usability, and manufacturing requirements
Required Qualifications Experience with soft goods
(e.g., backpacks, luggage, footwear, apparel, or similar sewn/fabricated products) Bachelor’s degree in
Industrial Design
(or related field) 6+ years
of product design and development experience 4+ years
managing or leading design projects Proficiency in
Rhino (2D)
and
SolidWorks (3D) Solid understanding of materials and processes: plastics, foam, cut-and-sew fabrication, and basic metalwork
