Overview

Communication Studies Adjunct Faculty — part-time position at Olympic College. Salary: $5,000-6,000 per 5-credit class. Reports to: Dean of Social Sciences & Humanities. The College seeks faculty dedicated to student-centered learning and advancing an equitable and inclusive educational environment. Olympic College enrolls approximately 10,500 students annually with a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body. The college offers Basic Studies, academic transfer and workforce education, and several applied baccalaureate degrees, along with community education.

The position is part-time, teaching primarily Public Speaking and other CMST courses. Evening and weekend classes, instruction at satellite campuses, and travel to clinical sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality teaching, including preparation, grading, and record keeping
• Provide class syllabi to students by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested
• Identify individual learning needs of students and adjust learning environments and activities accordingly
• Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators
• Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Communication Studies or directly related area from an accredited college or university
• Teaching experience
• Must be available to teach during the day

• PhD in Communication Studies
• College teaching experience

Additional Information

• We are unable to sponsor visas; only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered
• Faculty must submit official transcripts to Human Resources within 30 days of employment
• This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis; salary is commensurate with educational background and experience; AHE-covered
• Flexibility to meet departmental needs; evening/weekend classes and travel to other sites may be required
• Adjuncts are open continuously and reviewed quarterly; applicants may be contacted when vacancies occur; applying does not guarantee employment
• Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits initially; 50% load for two consecutive quarters may be required to qualify for benefits
