Job Description
We are seeking a creative and skilled Multimedia Storyteller with a strong emphasis on video production. If you’re passionate about using multimedia—especially video—to tell compelling, creative stories about how people, places, and systems shape the built environment, this role is for you. You’ll collaborate with HDR’s photographers, social media specialists, content strategists, and creative teams, as well as with architects, designers, thought leaders, and subject matter experts across the firm. From storyboarding to final delivery of multimedia assets, you’ll help bring complex ideas and projects to life in engaging and innovative ways as part of fully-developed campaigns and pursuit efforts.
The ideal candidate will have experience capturing high-quality video content, strong editing skills, and the ability to tell a compelling visual story. Collaboration during ideation and autonomous work through production are key to success. You will contribute to HDR’s architecture marketing studio by asking questions, thinking critically, iterating with others, solving problems, and keeping high-quality standards.
This role reports to the Visual Media Principal with mentorship from the Communications and Pursuits team. Given the collaborative and creative nature of this role, the Multimedia Storyteller is expected to be in the office approximately 50% of the time during non-travel weeks to enable real-time collaboration and high-impact visual content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of multimedia storytelling projects, with a strong focus on video—from concept development and storyboarding to editing and project management.
- Collaborate with the marketing team and design leaders to shape content that reflects HDR’s design philosophy and global impact.
- Apply critical thinking to engaging multimedia sound bites and translate complex architectural and design concepts into clear, engaging visuals for diverse audiences.
- Ensure all multimedia assets align with brand standards and contribute to integrated marketing and communications strategies.
- Create multipurpose use for footage based on audience and run times.
- Immerse yourself in the ideas, projects and concepts being highlighted.
- Draft storyboards and extract key storylines.
- Maintain and organize video archives and raw footage for easy access and reuse.
- Capture footage for events as needed.
- Applicants must include a highlight reel and/or digital portfolio with their resume.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong creative mindset with a keen eye for detail
- Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
- Willing and able to travel up to 35% of the time, sometimes independently
- Experience working with multimedia production companies is a plus, especially in collaborative or client-facing roles
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 2 years related experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams across business and technical sides
- Strong customer service orientation with solid organizational and planning skills
- Commitment to active participation in our employee-owned culture
