Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled SEO Strategist contractor to join our dynamic team. In this freelance role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our multilingual content strategy and executing technical SEO initiatives across key European markets. Fluency in German is essential.

As an SEO Strategist, you will focus on driving on-page and technical SEO improvements primarily for our German website. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to directly influence organic search performance within core European markets by optimizing existing content, implementing best practices, and adapting to evolving search engine algorithms including AI-driven search technologies.

You will collaborate with a diverse international team based in New York, enjoying the flexibility of remote work combined with occasional onsite meetings to foster teamwork and alignment. This role empowers you to shape our SEO approach, deliver measurable results, and contribute meaningfully to our growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• On-Page SEO & Content Optimization: Enhance German-language pages through strategic updates to meta tags, headers, internal links, and keyword integration. Edit copy meticulously and coordinate new content creation as necessary.
• Technical SEO: Identify and resolve crawl errors, broken links, duplicate content issues, and ensure mobile usability. Collaborate with development teams to implement structured data and optimize URL architecture. Maintain overall site health aligned with SEO best practices.
• SEO Tools & Performance Tracking: Utilize Google Search Console and other SEO platforms to monitor site performance. Analyze key metrics regularly and assist the Head of SEO in reporting and strategizing ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in German (required).
• Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in on-page and technical SEO.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to make precise content edits.
• Comfortable working within CMS environments and collaborating remotely.
• Familiarity with major SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Brightedge, SEMrush, etc.
