Position Description : CGI is seeking a User Interface / User Experience (UI / UX) Designer who is passionate about solving challenging client problems. You will be joining the International Affairs (IAF) group to support the mission of U.S. security, economic well-being, and worldwide relations. Working with various clients in the US federal space, IAF supports missions that foster national security, foreign relations and resilient democratic societies. Since , CGI has partnered with the U.S. federal government to support a wide variety of organizations and unique missions building solutions that support clients around the world.

As a UI / UX Expert, you will use your knowledge, skills, and abilities to analyze, design, and transform an application to meet the client’s current and future needs. The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships within a large team of both colleagues and clients. The candidate must also have a portfolio of design experience that demonstrates their capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team environment supporting an important government client. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an Agile environment using emerging technologies.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office with work performed at client site in Arlington, VA.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

  • Lead the end-to-end design process, from discovery to delivery, ensuring all solutions meet user needs and business goals.
  • Develop and communicate compelling design strategies, incorporating HCD methodologies to inform decision-making.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and design artefacts to communicate concepts and gather stakeholder feedback.
  • Use tools such as Axure, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite to deliver high-fidelity designs when required.
  • Work closely with clients to identify their needs, articulate challenges, and propose user-centric solutions.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to convey design rationale and build stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and business analysts, to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
  • Analyze research findings to derive actionable insights, creating user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

  • Our federal clients require that all applicants possess US citizenship and be eligible for a Secret-level security clearance.
  • 4-6 years of work experience in UX / UI design or a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Expertise in HCD principles, design thinking, and agile delivery frameworks.
  • Strong user research skills, with the ability to turn complex insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Figma, Adobe XD).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment as a part of an agile / client facing team
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering value for clients.
  • Adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Passionate about creating inclusive and accessible solutions that make a meaningful impact.

Desired qualifications / non-essential skills required :

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, ServiceNow, or similar solutions.
  • Experience with service design, including creating service blueprints and ecosystem maps.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS) to facilitate collaboration with development teams.
  • Relevant certifications in UX design, HCD, or Agile methodologies

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,000 - $100,000.
