The City of Nogales is hiring for a role within the Police Department Public Safety Communications Center. The position offers a salary of $34,003.00 annually and is located in Nogales, AZ. This is a full-time position with a continuous closing date. Summary: Under general supervision, this role performs highly responsible, specialized work in the daily operation of the Nogales Police Department Public Safety Communications Center. The employee works under the supervision and direction of the Communications Supervisor or designee and may exercise supervision over Public Safety Dispatchers in the absence of the Communications Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities: Receives and dispatches 911 and routine calls for service; logs call assignments Prioritizes calls for service and dispatches the appropriate number of agency officials for response Monitors status of units in the field for availability and officer safety Operates police/fire/medical radio and equipment Provide emergency first aid or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructions, if required Logs and documents general information; performs data entry into automated systems Enters, modifies, confirms, and clears records including warrants, restraining orders, stalking orders, stolen property, and runaway juveniles updates Conducts local, state and national system searches Regularly queries other computer databases and systems to perform warrant checks, vehicle registration updates, and driver license information Relays various information within the Department and other law enforcement agencies Develops and maintains statistical data Files various documents Performs general office duties as assigned Supports the relationship between the City of Nogales and the general public Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information Performs other duties as required or assigned Knowledge of: City policies and procedures Pertinent local, state and federal laws, codes and regulations Law enforcement telecommunications systems Communications Center operations City streets and general geography Record keeping and file maintenance principles and procedures Skill in: Using initiative, discretion and judgment within established procedures guidelines and rules Defining problems; establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions Managing situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgment Recordkeeping Multi-tasking Providing efficient customer service Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies, and the general public Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing Operating a personal computer and various software applications Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of responsible Police Communications or Records experience Spanish Language fluency License and Certification Requirements: Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal A Certification Public Safety Operator Training Program Certification Special Requirements: Successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph examination Must be a U.S. Citizen Physical Demands and Working Environment: Work is performed both in an office environment.
