Assignment Editor - Seasonal Job at Univision Communications, Inc in Los Angeles

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

TelevisaUnivision is seeking a talented Assignment Editor with a dynamic and creative attitude.

Position is represented by LAN

YOUR DAY-DAY:

+ Monitor news sources continuously: wire services, scanners, social media, public agencies, community contacts, tips.

+ Identify breaking, developing, and enterprise stories; generate and vet story ideas.

+ Dispatch reporters, photographers, and crews to field coverage; coordinate logistics of their assignments.

+ Coordinate with digital/social media teams to ensure content is optimized across platforms.

+ Edit video clips, trim or prep content for producers when needed. May also write or edit copy for web/digital platforms.

+ Maintain relationships with sources & community contacts. Possibly do outreach to cultivate tips & stories.

+ Participate in editorial meetings / assignment planning; communicate news coverage plans to newsroom staff.

+ Work under tight deadlines; when breaking news occurs, be ready to adjust assignments, move crews, reallocate resources.

+ Handle viewer input: phone tips, social media messages; sometimes deal with sensitive or high?stress situations.

YOU HAVE:

+ Minimum 2 years of experience in the Assignment Desk

+ Possess extensive experience in and proven strategies for sourcing and sharing content through social media.

+ Fluent in Spanish (read and write)

+ Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, and sit for up to (8) hours
