About the Role:
The State of Mississippi is seeking an experienced Audio/Visual (AV) Specialist to support construction-related IT projects across Mississippi. As part of the Public Property Construction IT Projects Support team, you will provide expertise in AV system design, structured cabling, technical documentation, and procurement activities to ensure successful implementation of AV solutions at government facilities.
This is a hybrid, as-needed position. The contractor must prioritize availability when requested, while remaining free to work other jobs. Flexibility is key, as weekly hours may range from low to up to 40 hours depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in project scoping and define technical AV requirements
- Conduct site walkthroughs and attend design meetings
- Assist procurement team in drafting technical specifications and evaluating vendor proposals
- Serve as a subject matter expert in AV systems and structured cabling installation
- Coordinate with vendors, construction managers, and general contractors
- Support project closeout, system testing, and technical documentation efforts
Required Skills & Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of AV system design & integration 5-7 years (Commercial/government experience preferred)
- Structured cabling (voice/data) 3-5 years (Knowledge of low-voltage cabling standards)
- Construction project coordination 3-5 years (Coordinate with contractors/trades)
- RFP technical writing & proposal evaluation 3-5 years (Assist procurement team)
- Site walkthroughs and technical documentation 3-5 years
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 Suite
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- CTS, CTS-D, or equivalent certification (8+ years experience preferred)
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Autodesk Revit (12 years)
