Overview

WENY News, the ABC and CBS affiliate in Horseheads, NY has an immediate opening for an anchor / multi-media journalist. The right candidate should have a strong on-air presence, the ability to work with limited supervision, have solid news judgment and writing skills, and ability to handle pressure and last-minute changes. This is a multi-faceted role; in addition to having the creative control of producing and anchoring your own newscast, you\'ll also report as an MMJ other days. This is the perfect role for those who want to test their skills as a producer, and anchoring the show they created, and also get out in the field reporting as a multi-media journalist, engaging with the community.

Responsibilities

• Produce and anchor your own newscast; report as an MMJ on other days.
• Engage with the community; be the face of the show and field reporter as needed.
• Operate as a one-person band with strong organizational and time-management skills; edit video when necessary.
• Take advantage of live opportunities, breaking news coverage, and stories focused on community matters; receive feedback and coaching from industry veterans.
• Grow audiences on TV and digital platforms through social media integration.

Qualifications

• Strong on-air presence; solid news judgment and writing skills; ability to work with limited supervision and handle pressure.
• Ability to produce, anchor, and report as MMJ; experience as a producer preferred.
• ENPS knowledge is a bonus, but not required.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to operate as a one-person journalist.

WENY-TV is located in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. It\'s within a few hours\' drive of NYC, Buffalo, Syracuse, Toronto, and Philadelphia; surrounded by nature, waterfalls, hiking trails, wineries, and close-knit communities.

Compensation and Details

Salary range: $32,000 - $37,000.

Valid driver\'s license required.
