The company is seeking a Component Library Engineer to join a team designing cutting-edge components for space and national security applications including space-rated cameras, star trackers, and laser communications. The ideal candidate is a technical expert who will support the design, development, launch, and sustainment of products in Voyager’s portfolio. This role requires hands-on technical leadership in parts management, data management, and quality control, with a focus on supporting high-technology space programs.
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, candidates must meet eligibility criteria as described by applicable regulations.
Responsibilities
- Define the component library's scope and roadmap
- Research and identify components that meet specifications, performance, and cost constraints
- Possess technical expertise in reading schematics, drawings, and datasheets
- Interface with manufacturers and suppliers to source components
- Inspect alternative components to improve quality, reliability, and cost
- Manage all aspects of component selection, production, qualification, obsolescence, and documentation
- Create and maintain component library databases, schematic symbols, and component land patterns
- Design and create accurate footprints/Cells for various electronic components
- Develop schematic symbols that accurately represent component behavior and pin connections
- Organize and maintain component libraries for easy navigation and compatibility
- Review and verify the accuracy of component libraries, identifying and correcting errors
- Collaborate with PCB designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to address component-related issues
- Guide team members in selecting appropriate components based on engineering requirements
- Track usage and identify optimization opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and minimum 2 years of relevant experience; graduate degree with 2+ years of related experience; or 8+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience with component obsolescence tools and methods
- Experience with end-of-life management, COTS, and counterfeit parts
- Experience in setting up EDM and Parts Management practices
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance and ECMP practices
- Solid understanding of configuration management and requirements traceability
- Experience with Altium
- Preferred knowledge of JEDEC, EIA, IPC standards, and applicable military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards
- Preferred knowledge of space design requirements and EEE parts qualification
- Experience with passive and active components, processors, memories, connectors, wires, finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free control, etc.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional, multi-project environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools
- Experience contributing to PMPCB reviews and non-standard parts approvals
