What we’re looking for

Spectrum Networks is seeking a talented individual who is passionate about creating news and sports television. The Studio Operations Tech III will support all live and taped studio-based programming by operating in a variety of technical roles. Experience in a technical, live environment is required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Main Audio Operator for sports pregame and postgame shows.
  • Support Director and Technical Directors during live and pre-taped productions originating from the broadcast facility.
  • Develop and execute remote event workflow planning, including wireless microphones and communications.
  • Troubleshoot issues from remote truck with transmission paths and signal flow.
  • Administrative duties include proper timecard entry, generating daily reports, and effective daily communication with management.
  • Assist with breaking news coverage and last-minute programming changes as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Operations (Tactical Responsibilities): Operates technical positions daily, such as Audio and Audio Assist positions during live events and/or studio productions as requested.
  • Deep understanding of audio systems, transmission paths, signal workflow and remote events.
  • Knowledge of intercom systems, RF systems, and Dante network.
  • Experience collaborating with on-site production trucks.
  • Knowledge of studio-based production and post-production techniques required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with clear verbal and written communication, including conveying requests and ideas to editors, graphic and audio designers, and talent.
  • Other technical duties such as Playback, Replay, Chyron, Camera and Robotic Camera assignments as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience working with audio consoles such as Calrec and Studer.
  • Understanding of the organization’s goals and willingness to learn and grow with the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of practical training and experience in sports TV production; strong sports knowledge preferred.
  • Team-oriented and able to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and to execute tasks in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to multitask under changing priorities and time constraints.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, flexible hours, and on-location as needed.

Education & Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, Engineering, or a minimum of 3-5 years equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of equivalent work experience.
