Overview
The Contractor shall provide technical services in support of FAALC Product Divisions, covering electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems including troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, assembly, testing, installation, and related engineering technician services in accordance with FAA and FAALC standards, orders, technical instructions, and quality procedures.
Responsibilities
- NAVAID antenna and component repair and overhaul.
- Rotary joint and drive motor troubleshooting and repair.
- Circuit board testing and repair.
- Production and repair of electronic cables and wire harnesses; performing equipment performance analyses, and information collection and reporting.
- Performing equipment adjustment, testing, and certification.
- Installation of equipment and components, and modifications.
- Installation and maintenance of NAS Radomes.
- Structural inspection of towers and tower components at heights up to 750 feet.
- Maintenance on towers and related systems, including installation, removal and maintenance of antennas, surveillance systems, safety wires, tower guy wires, and obstruction lighting.
- Moderate lifting and carrying, climbing, crawling, and other physical requirements; operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle; color vision and hearing requirements as specified.
- Attend required training to maintain knowledge of repair procedures and safety courses.
- Support Preventive Maintenance (PMs) and Corrective Maintenance (CMs) on FAA and interagency systems in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Basic troubleshooting of electronic/electro-mechanical systems, fault isolation, removal and replacement of failed LRUs; training, procedures, or guidance provided.
- Prepare FAA and interagency assets for shipment to and from field sites, vendor locations, and FAALC.
- Enter time into the Data Collection and Reporting System (DCRS) daily for timely billing.
- Keep Crew Leads informed of assigned tasks and status.
- Tower climbing / work at heights (to 750 feet).
- Perform corrosion control and prevention.
- Operate equipment such as boom lifts and motorized forklifts.
- Work from ropes at heights and install electronic and mechanical systems on NAS and Inter-Agency systems.
- Minimum weight restrictions due to fall protection gear: 125 lbs to 290 lbs.
- Travel up to 70% and be prepared for emergency call-outs for corrective maintenance.
- Assist crew lead with workload scheduling and planning; coordinate with internal and external customers on projects.
- Assist junior technicians and provide on-the-job training as required.
- Assist crew lead in project package reviews and provide feedback to internal customers.
Engineering Technician Services
- Provide engineering technician services to FAALC Product Divisions to ensure electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment meets serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements.
- Tasks may include assembling, repairing and refurbishing equipment, components, test fixtures, and prototypes; performing performance analyses and data collection and reporting; installing equipment and modifications.
- Complete tasks in accordance with FAA and FAALC standards, orders, technical instructions, and quality procedures.
Equipment Assembly and Repair
- Assemble and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, and components.
- Assembly may involve design, fabrication, and construction of items such as cables, circuit boards, test fixtures, and engineering prototypes.
- Repair may include performance analysis, disassembly/assembly, troubleshooting and correction of malfunctions, parts replacement, painting and composite structures.
- Complete applicable adjustments, testing, and certification on items assembled or repaired.
- Document all process functions per technical documentation for the system/subsystem/component.
Equipment Performance Analyses and Data Collection
- Perform performance analyses to determine operating characteristics, aid fault isolation, and verify functions under variable conditions.
- Collect and record engineering data to document results; extract, compile, and present system data and logistics support information from various sources.
Equipment Installation
- Install electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, modifications, and prototypes.
- Perform adjustment, test, and certification functions as required.
Qualifications
- An associate degree in electrical or engineering technology and completion of formal technical training courses is required for level II.
- Safety and operational requirements mandate a physical fitness evaluation with weight restrictions (minimum 125 lbs and maximum 290 lbs).
- Practical experience in engineering technician support, including developing, reviewing, and updating engineering documentation and processes; troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, testing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience in producing, reviewing, revising, and interpreting technical documents; assisting in designing, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, and repairing systems and prototypes.
- Developing and performing equipment and component adjustment, test, and certification processes; installing equipment and modifications.
- NACI Clearance - ability to obtain Public Trust.
- Estimated travel: 70% monthly.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Two forms of unexpired identification required; one primary and one secondary form as specified.
Desired Qualifications
- Rope repelling / on-rope work at heights.
- Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations.
- Installation of electronic and mechanical systems and components.
- Preventive maintenance and replacement of tower, radome, and cab glass components.
- Experience with operation of boom lifts and motorized forklifts; ability to work at heights.
- Completion of trip reports.
