TECHNICAL WRITER - TOP SECRET CLEARANCE. SpaceX Starshield is seeking a technical writer to compile and update technical specifications and requirements documents for cryptographic and security systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate with software and hardware engineers to produce high-quality documents to aid certification efforts. This role requires learning technical concepts, understanding deliverables, and strong project management. We are looking for candidates who are self-directed, take initiative, and can drive progress amid ambiguity. Responsibilities
Create and maintain technical and requirements documents, including security evaluation documents for security systems, verification and validation plans, and design documentation Collaborate with software engineers to produce concise descriptions of software functionality for a technical audience Oversee the timely delivery of required documentation to external evaluators Propose and develop improvements to requirements management systems Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of professional experience as a technical writer in lieu of a degree 1+ years of technical writing experience Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) Top Secret/SCI clearance Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing requirements documents for information security standards Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, etc) Excellent written English and grammar Experience developing written test plans for security evaluations Ability to quickly learn new technical information and relate technical information in precise terms Experience with project management tools Experience with LaTeX Additional Requirements
Must be willing to travel (approximately 15%) to other SpaceX locations, as necessary Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support proposal or critical project timelines Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing Itar Requirements
