Overview
Provides photographic documentation of ocular disorders/pathology as requested by providers. Performs a wide variety of highly technical and diagnostic testing procedures, at the direction of the physician, independent of direct supervision, which requires technical judgment and knowledge of ophthalmic pathophysiology in order to obtain optimal results. Captures close-up images of patients' retinas, corneas, and other ocular structures by focusing specialized microscope and cameras to take two and three dimensional photographs of external, anterior, and posterior segments of eye. Education
HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Certification & Licensure
COA - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant OR COT - Certified Ophthalmic Technologist BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Typical Experience
1 year of recent relevant experience. Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of retinal fundus photography both film and digital systems. Knowledge, understanding and ability to operate state of the art optical imaging equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomy. Clear and complete documentation skills along with computer data entry skills to enter patient information. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with high degree of motivation. Job Shift
