The Associate Director of Design and Multimedia at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business creates high-quality digital and print design, as well as video and photographic content, for Booth’s marketing efforts. This role serves as the school’s designer, editor, and visual storyteller, producing both static and motion-based creative assets. Responsibilities include shooting and editing video and photography, developing compelling visuals, and ensuring all work aligns with Booth’s brand standards. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and strong layout skills are essential. The position emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to showcasing the Booth community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and execute high-quality static, print, and motion graphics to support Booth’s branding and marketing efforts. Collaborate with the creative team and stakeholders from project intake through completion. Shoot, edit, and produce photo and video content, including motion graphics, interviews, and events. Manage post-production workflows, including editing, encoding, and preparing assets for digital platforms. Conceptualize and develop multimedia assets aligned with Chicago Booth’s visual voice and brand standards. Coordinate pre-production logistics such as scheduling, location scouting, and talent coordination. Develop and maintain templates, graphics packages, and design systems for consistency across channels. Create digital content for web, email, and social media, with a focus on innovation and visual storytelling. Conduct asset research including photography, archival media, and audio clips to enhance productions. Support digital asset management, equipment upkeep, and efficient media workflow across projects. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of four years of marketing experience within a creative capacity required. Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required. Complete familiarity with Apple Macintosh environment required. Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills required. Ability to work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes required. Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, and persuasion skills required. Ability to handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone required. Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach required.
