Role overview At HDR, Senior Strategic Communications Creative Coordinators are key cogs in the project delivery process. They serve as both a liaison between the creative and project management teams and as a working visual designer. Senior Creative Coordinators act as the point of contact for creative services on major engineering and architecture projects. An effective Senior Creative Coordinator facilitates the development of a product throughout its lifecycle, pulling the strings to ensure the project is created and managed on time and to client satisfaction. A Senior Creative Coordinator with visual design skills elevates our design and process and provides additional strategy and quality to our project delivery. A key aspect of the role is to manage review processes during project material development, consolidate comments and edits, streamline the revision process to minimize back-and-forth, and contribute to the visual language and graphic design of the finished product. Responsibilities Coordinate as liaison between the creative team, project managers, and internal/external clients to serve as the point of contact for a project’s graphic and creative needs. Review and intake creative requests as needed, and communicate project schedules with creative teams. Design, edit, and export graphics and project materials in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Facilitate review processes for graphic and creative products with project management and client teams, consolidating comments and streamlining revisions. Work with the communications team to define strategic approaches for all creative deliverables, including branding, outreach tools, promotional materials, and digital engagement. Collaborate with local teams to help manage workload distribution. Support project and creative teams on multicomponent projects and partner with clients to shape deliverables. Work with marketing and project management teams to ensure the creative development process is properly scoped and budgeted when setting up new projects. Ensure quality control through approval of proofs, press checks, and review/testing of materials before deployment. Plan, design and coordinate compelling, professional visuals from concept through completion, including the role of creative designer. Produce work that may include video, infographics, poster boards, interactive media, style guides, presentations, brand design, handouts and flyers, annual reports, web and direct mail pieces, advertisements, etc. Integrate with Strategic Communications web and digital engagement teams to support and review digital engagement tools. Provide input on strategy and innovative message delivery and design for distinct target audiences. Contribute to the creation of materials for internal and external clients. Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience. 8+ years of related experience in a role focused on communication strategy, visual design, or media coordination. A portfolio of relevant design and digital engagement work is required for consideration. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for print and digital design. Experience designing and supporting social media or digital engagement campaigns. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Service- and client-oriented personality with the ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Ability to work well independently or in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to travel (up to 5%). Working knowledge of local, state and federal requirements for public involvement. Demonstrated interest in ongoing training/education to stay relevant with rapid technological changes.
