Overview
KTLA, the #1 station in the nation’s #2 market, is hiring for a Digital Executive Producer to oversee digital content production and distribution, and to lead the social media strategy for KTLA. This role involves overseeing all digital editorial content published and distributed on KTLA.com and across KTLA’s social channels to ensure high editorial standards and strong audience engagement.
The Digital Executive Producer will manage daily content production, provide guidance on content creation, lead and mentor digital producers, identify opportunities for audience engagement, and oversee various digital projects.
Responsibilities
Oversee all digital editorial content for KTLA.com and social channels to meet editorial standards and engagement targets.
Lead, train, and coach the digital team to create compelling, audience-focused content across digital platforms.
Attend editorial meetings and serve as a bridge between broadcast and digital in the newsroom.
Write headlines and stories that increase pageviews and package content to align with station KPIs.
Collaborate with digital staff to produce content with emphasis on breaking news.
Analyze website traffic trends to inform daily content decisions and longer-term development to grow digital audiences.
Plan and implement special coverage projects (e.g., live events) as needed.
Promote news content on social media and leverage social channels to enhance brand presence.
Skill/Experience Requirements
Previous experience as a digital leader in a local or national news operation preferred
5+ years of experience in digital storytelling and digital journalism
Deep understanding of the social media landscape and how to create video content that resonates with audiences
Experience building specialized online content (investigative, elections, weather, etc.)
Strong social media management experience with Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Experience with Social News Desk is a plus.
Knowledge of SEO best practices, analytics tools and AP Style
Organized, problem-solving, quick decision-making abilities
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
Ability to take direction and implement new ideas rapidly
Comfortable adapting to industry changes and thriving under pressure
Self-motivated with a competitive, assertive personality and ability to balance multiple projects
Schedule flexibility; willingness to work nights and weekends
Strong understanding of Google Search Console, Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics
Education
Bachelor's degree or combination of education and relevant work experience
Compensation
$90,000/year + commensurate with experience and skill level
