Senior Package Producer, The Lead with Jake Tapper
CNN seeks a talented Senior Package Producer to join the team. This role requires exceptionally strong news judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead show producers and the live broadcast in breaking news situations when required. The Senior Package Producer will serve in the control room and will collaborate with correspondents, anchors, and show leadership to craft segments and execute edits from conception to air. Travel with the show anchor for shoots and occasional breaking news coverage may be required. Responsibilities
Lead the show producers and live broadcast in breaking news situations when required; serve in the control room. Generate unique angles and creative ideas for each night’s program; conceive and execute segments; edit questions and segments for the anchor; manage producers in collaboration with show leadership and anchor. Collaborate with correspondents on scripts and live shots; plan for next day’s reports and guest segments. Line-produce the show when needed; work closely with Rights and Clearances, the Affiliate Desk, and assignment desks. Conceive of package ideas with the show anchor; produce them from crafting questions to arranging shoots and overseeing the edit process. Travel with the show anchor for shoots and occasional breaking news coverage. Qualifications & Experience
8+ years of news production or related experience. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. Control room experience required. Experience in show production and script review; live line producing and handling breaking news under pressure. Strong writing and production skills; outstanding judgment, strategic thinking, organization, and diplomacy. Field producing experience strongly suggested. Ability to work extended schedules as the news cycle requires. About Our Work
