As the Director of Global Product Communications, you'll spearhead external communications for our global portfolios, amplifying awareness of our therapeutic areas and medicines. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Pipeline and Portfolio Communications, you'll collaborate with senior leaders to craft strategic brand communications that drive business impact and elevate our mission to improve lives affected by rare diseases. Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of innovative communications strategies for Alexion’s Neurology and Hematology portfolios.
Develop press releases, key message documents, Q&As, and standby statements for key brand milestones.
Serve as an integral member of cross-functional teams, providing communications counsel with an emphasis on disease awareness and launch preparedness.
Collaborate with EUCAN and International Corporate Affairs teams to align strategy and support successful implementation of integrated communications strategies.
Lead communications planning around key scientific milestones, ensuring impactful messaging.
Serve as the primary communications advisor to franchise and brand leadership teams.
Develop compelling narratives and media strategies to showcase scientific innovation within the rare disease portfolio.
Provide ongoing issues management support and media/message training for senior leaders.
Partner with Global Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations to maximize visibility for Alexion’s pipeline and product milestones.
Contribute as an integral member of leadership teams for specific therapy areas.
Build stakeholder trust through proactive outreach efforts with patient communities.
Identify opportunities to leverage Alexion’s patient ambassador strategy.
Supervise agency partners and manage budgets to drive tactical execution of communications strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Scientific, Communications or related field relevant to the role's responsibilities
10+ years of experience in PR, Communications in biotech/pharmaceuticals or with a healthcare public relations agency
Deep understanding of regulatory, commercial and legal landscape governing pre-approval and post-approval pharmaceutical product communications, in the U.S. and globally
Global or U.S. Launch experience
Strong executive presence and outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to successfully influence without authority and effectively work across functions and personalities
Excellent business judgment when making decisions; always considers the relevance/impact of each decision on the business
Experience managing projects within a highly matrixed Global environment
Ability to work well under pressure, successfully navigate ambiguity and succeed in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, often unpredictable environment with multiple competing priorities
Outstanding attention to detail, follow through and high sense of urgency
Track record for adding value, execution excellence and driving results
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
High learning agility
Desirable Skills/Experience Rare disease/high-value biologics experience is important, but not essential
