Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, operate video cameras and related equipment in the production of professional pre-recorded content and live-stream programs for The Soraya.
  • Review, edit, and assemble recorded material into cohesive products and collaborate with the Creative Content Manager to create multimedia storytelling using photography, videography, and text.
  • Attend performances, record content using The Soraya\'s equipment, and capture B-Roll footage of performances and behind-the-scenes activity.
  • Review, edit, and assemble material for sharing across platforms; explore new editing technologies and best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Identify and correct audio and video quality to ensure smooth broadcasts in varied settings; evaluate and select appropriate video and streaming technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor\'s degree in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to 6 months of full-time experience in multimedia production (still and motion picture photography).
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of techniques, materials, and equipment used in production of instructional media and related assignments; full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, videotaping, lighting, editing methods, and safety considerations.
  • Thorough knowledge of video production techniques and still and motion photography.
  • Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment, including multi-camera setups; learn techniques in television, film, radio, or multimedia productions; operate and maintain studio, camera, and related equipment; perform photographic processing and basic development concepts.
  • Basic computer skills to operate digital and analog production-related editing and duplication equipment; solid writing and editing skills with strong English grammar; strong interpersonal skills for working with staff and students.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: Media Production Specialist / 0810 / 1
  • Anticipated hiring range: $21.23 - $25.00 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience. Salary range for this classification: $21.23 - $37.98 per hour.
  • Hours: Intermittent, on-call; hours and schedule vary.
  • This is a temporary position; end date is to be determined.
  • The position requires on-campus work in Northridge; it is not a telecommute role.
