BE PART OF THE CONNECTION In your role as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ), you’ll get to the heart of every story by talking to members of your community. MMJs are enterprising storytellers who uncover perspectives that might otherwise go unreported. You’ll handle pitching, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing, and you’ll collaborate with a team to deliver compelling, timely, and accurate coverage across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news stories, taking ownership of the storytelling process.
- Produce compelling coverage for TV, connected television, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with a team to create timely and accurate reporting that connects with viewers.
- Engage with the community to uncover important local stories and perspectives.
Qualifications
Required qualifications- Experience: Television news reporting – 3+ years
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience
- Technical Skills: Ability to shoot videos, understanding of video editing software, and effective use of social media
- Skills: Clear on-camera communication and strong writing and verbal expression
- Abilities: Curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories; physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Travel: Willing to travel to discover important stories in neighborhoods and engage with the community
- Schedule: Ability to work under deadlines, flexible shifts including weekends/holidays and possible longer shifts for breaking news or severe weather
- Driver’s license: Valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the state of residence
- Experience in a 24-hour news environment
Working conditions
