Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Basic function

The Sr. Media Planner assists the Director in developing overall communication strategies and leads the media planning and buying process on assigned accounts. Demonstrates strong organizational and polished leadership skills with the client as well as within the media department. Ensures all media plans are integrated with other departments/vendors (internal/external) for successful return on investment.

Responsibilities

  • Proactive management of client needs; communicates and disseminates client requests to team and manages client expectations
  • Assist the media director with media strategy research (pull historical campaign data and analyze results, competitive research, building unique audiences, media consumption habits, trends); assist with channel recommendation; curate partner lists
  • Ensure campaign investment tactics are aligned to the media strategy
  • Lead RFP outreach with vendors; manage publisher communication with all active partners; schedule meetings with prospective partners
  • Leading day to day maintenance of assigned account(s) and responds to, prioritizes and follows through to completion all account team and client requests and needs (including POVs, client education, presentations)
  • Ensuring on-going tracking and optimization for media campaigns; put forth optimization recommendations
  • Ensuring integration of plans with other departments (account, production, creative)
  • Liaise with multiple agencies, creative resources, and production teams to manage deliverables
  • Troubleshoot any platform issues and provide next steps and recommendations for solves
  • Keep budget flowcharts up to date, manage campaign budgets across platforms and partners, assist with billing and invoicing in a timely manner
  • Mentor junior planning staff on a daily basis which includes developing and aiding in the development of results driven media strategies
  • Assisting on new business, special projects and administrative duties within the department
  • Stay apprised of industry standards, new media programs/trends, and competitive landscape

Job criteria

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or related discipline; and/or equivalent combination of education, training and related experience

Qualifications

§Must have the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government contractor employment suitability determination (i.e. personnel security clearance)

§Hybrid role; Must be able to work on-site in Arlington, VA approx. 3 days/wk

Prior experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a media planner with integrated experience, and an emphasis on digital
  • Experience working with federal government agencies preferred
  • Previous ad agency experience preferred

Special knowledge or skills [Software]

  • Translate business goals into media objectives
  • Solid working knowledge of how to integrate media research into the media planning process (MRI-Simmons experience preferred)
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with strong Excel experience

Experience using third-party ad servers and reporting platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Campaign Manager 360, DV360)

Hands-on experience with leading media buying and optimization platforms (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads Manager)

  • Experience managing DSP campaigns either directly (i.e., TTD, DV360, Amazon DSP) or through a managed service/preferred partner highly preferred
  • Proven ability to analyze and mix various media vehicles across all media types (i.e., OOH, Print, TV, Radio and Digital) to maximize their effective communication strengths
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey ideas to the account group and client
  • Hands-on experience in day to day of planning, buying, implementation, analytics and optimization (all media but especially digital)
