Overview

The Sr. Marketing Consultant is responsible for executing marketing execution and risk-related tasks as assigned/as necessary, and partners with consumer marketing team leadership to understand and support organizational priorities. The senior marketing consultant may direct the work of others and brings an innovative, growth mindset to enhance overall team performance. This role will specifically advance SEO strategies to improve KeyBank's organic visibility across digital properties. The SEO Specialist will execute keyword research, on-page optimization, technical audits, competitive analysis, and reporting, while also managing the local search landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Keyword Strategy & Execution: Conduct keyword research using tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, BrightEdge and internal data; identify high-impact opportunities across all sectors of the business; collaborate with the SEO Lead to refine prioritization and workflows; recommend and implement updates to URLs, body content, title tags, meta descriptions, headers, and internal linking; ensure content changes align with SEO best practices and business objectives.
  • Technical SEO: Perform regular audits to identify crawl, indexation, and performance issues; provide actionable recommendations to web teams and track resolution progress; stay on top of SEO news and algorithm updates.
  • Performance Reporting: Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual SEO performance reports; track KPIs such as traffic, rankings, CTR, and conversions; help evolve reporting templates and dashboards in collaboration with the SEO Lead.
  • Local Search Management: Monitor and optimize KeyBank’s presence across local listings and map packs; identify new listing opportunities; ensure accuracy and consistency of business information across platforms.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work autonomously; coordinate with internal and external partners (line of business partners, analytics, creative services, agencies, compliance, leadership) to support development and execution of an effective marketing plan; follow established marketing processes and manage risks effectively; provide timely and effective communication to ensure awareness and commitment to marketing initiatives.
  • Strategy and Risk: Recognize and escalate potential risk; maintain knowledge of team control procedures, testing, and processes where applicable; maintain internal policies and procedures including updating and drafting training materials as needed; use marketing knowledge to advise on tactics that achieve marketing and business objectives.
  • Execution Support: Assist with designing marketing plans and execution tactics for assigned product line(s)/segment(s) while adhering to established procedures; perform other duties as assigned; duties may change with or without notice; comply with KeyBank policies and procedures, including ethical conduct and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field or equivalent work experience (required)

Experience Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of traditional and digital creative marketing development processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of banking products and segment needs
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and prioritize delivery based on key objectives
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong oral & written communication skills

Physical Demands

  • General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks or computer bags up to 10 lbs.

Compensation And Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000 to $115,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
