Assistant Apparel Designer Job at Criquet Shirts in Austin

The Assistant Designer will be responsible for assisting the Design Team with all aspects of the Criquet product lifecycle, from concept to final development. The Assistant Designer reports directly to the Apparel Designer as their manager.

What You’ll Do

• Assist Design Team in research and preparing for design presentations including trends, silhouettes, and competitor inspiration. Help the Designer with organization of samples and any materials needed for the presentation.
• Support any artwork and graphic product needs for the brand and must be able to use Photoshop and Illustrator to create stripes, prints, and graphics with light tutelage.
• Manage the status of all approvals for every garment and archive files and developments. Must keep files organized and know where to find approvals as needed.
• Track sample shipments, maintain package calendar, and organize any inbound or outbound packages. Point person who tracks when packages are expected and distributes contents to design team.
• Own SMS tracking and sample chart for wholesale and marketing. Keep samples organized and SMS tracking chart updated. Hand off samples to both departments.
• Own the organization of the design sample closet and any approvals (lab dips, trims, fabrics). Point person for finding necessary samples and approvals.
• Work directly with Designer on brand collaborations and gear items.
• Maintain linesheets, CADs, artwork files, and presentation documents. Must update colorways, sketches, and information as needed.
• Assist Marketing in preparation and day-of execution for photoshoots as needed including helping with samples.
• Any other projects as needed!

What We're Looking For

• College degree in apparel design or apparel product development with concentrated classes in textile science, design, and CAD graphics.
• 1+ years of experience working in Apparel Design, Apparel Product Development or related field, with relevant internships counting toward experience.
• Confident verbal and written communication skills with experience working in a design room and has experience in communicating over email to internal team members and overseas partners.
• Proficiency using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, MS Office, GSuite, and managing a calendar.
• Able to sketch designs in Illustrator and have a strong sense of color.
• Must be familiar with Design and Product Development calendar and working towards deadlines.
• Keen attention to detail and organization with the ability to multi-task managing multiple seasons at once.
• Willingness to learn, participate in a team dynamic, and self-motivate. Able to collaborate and be self-aware of capabilities and time management.
• Must live in the Austin area, or be willing to relocate here, as this position has many in-person responsibilities.
