Job Overview Meyers Constructors, Inc. is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Designer to join our Structural Steel Division. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing architectural and structural plans, preparing submittals, and producing precise shop drawings that guide our fabrication team. As a critical part of the division, you will help achieve quality goals, meet project deadlines, and ensure seamless coordination between architects, engineers, project managers, and the fabrication shop.

Key Responsibilities Plan & Drawing Review Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
Incorporate responses to RFIs generated by the Project Manager.
Calculate lengths, dimensions, and tolerances of steel elements.
Apply geometric calculations including rise, run, and radius.
Shop Drawing & Submittals Prepare accurate submittals in line with project schedules.
Produce shop drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel items, including dimensions, welds, holes, and locations.
Vendor & Design Coordination Collaborate with engineers and architects to interpret and implement design requirements.
Team Coordination Work closely with project managers, production managers, and fabrication managers to provide technical support.
Update team members on detailing progress to maintain timelines and ensure customer communication.
Required Skills & Abilities Ability to distinguish between trade drawings (Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical).
Strong understanding of plan/section nomenclature.
Ability to interpret and assess structural/miscellaneous steel details in drawings.
Skilled at identifying conflicts between various trade drawings.
Ability to use and interpret drawing scales accurately.
Demonstrated proficiency in Tekla Structures for modeling and detailing.
Education & Experience Proven experience as a Structural Steel Designer with a strong project portfolio.
5+ years of structural steel construction experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, and other detailing software.
Solid understanding of structural engineering principles and construction processes.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods working at a computer workstation.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Comfort navigating job sites and active construction environments.
Salary & Benefits Base Salary: $70,000-$140,000+ per year (based on experience).
