$80,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on experience. Baron does not sponsor work visas and requires the ability to work in-person in Washington D.C. RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing maps that support Baron’s work on political risk, geopolitical analysis, and strategic advisory Designing infographics, charts, diagrams, and report layouts that complement mapping products and convey non-spatial data Collaborating with research teams Sourcing and cleaning data from varied sources for mapping and visualization Ensuring all visual outputs are consistent with Baron’s standards of accuracy, objectivity, and design Producing deliverables for internal and external use: reports, briefs, presentations, and dashboards Managing multiple projects with competing deadlines, and iterating quickly while maintaining attention to detail REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Cartography, Geography, GIS, Graphic Design, or related disciplines Demonstrable portfolio showing both geospatial and broader data/graphic design work Proficiency in GIS software and mapping libraries/platforms, plus strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, or equivalent Experience producing infographics, data visualizations, and illustrations Experience conducting in-depth research with creativity and rigor PREFERRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS
Scripting or programming ability (Python, R, or equivalent) for geospatial or visualization workflows Experience building web-based map visualizations or dashboards Proficiency in foreign languages, especially Chinese, Arabic, Russian, or German Send us your information
