Overview

Director of Architecture & Design - Luxury Brands role with responsibilities spanning the elevation of Luxury Brand design, project delivery, CAPEX planning, and collaboration across internal teams and external partners to support growth and asset value in the Luxury & Lifestyle Brands portfolio. This position covers the North American Region (USA & Canada) and involves moderate business travel. What will I be doing?

Support the Senior Director of Design, Luxury Brands and the Senior Vice President, Global Design Services on strategic portfolio growth initiatives among developing Luxury & Lifestyle Brands. Elevate Luxury Brand design through successful project deliveries within the respective Luxury Brand portfolios. Collaborate with GDS Luxury Team, A&C, Brand, Operations (including F&B, Spa/Fitness/Wellness, MEP, IT, etc.), Development, and Technical Services on new LXR Brand and CAPEX initiatives, acquisitions due diligence, and long-range CAPEX planning. Manage LXR-specific new development and due diligence / PIP efforts; build and maintain CAPEX tools, GDS Design Initiatives, Brand Narratives, and Design & Construction Standards. Oversee North American Luxury Brand projects requiring Design, Brand, Operations and Technical assessments to achieve GDS approvals for conversions, renovations, and new construction. Work with Owners, Operators (Corporate and Franchise), Developers, and Design/Technical consultants to promote programming, planning, and operational efficiencies; provide strategic recommendations to improve asset value within budget and schedule constraints. Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in GDS initiatives; travel as required. Project Evaluations, PIP Development & Design

Drive Luxury Brand alignment—program, budget, planning, and design due diligence—mentoring Brand, Operations, and Development teams, and third-party partners of owners and consultants. Foster collaborative sessions to optimize guest experience and property performance across long-range CAPEX planning, acquisition due diligence, PIP development, site and desktop evaluations for conversions, renovations, and new construction. GDS Direct Support / CAPEX Planning & Execution

Advance the Operations CAPEX planning initiative and related Luxury CAPEX projects, Luxury Brand Design Narratives, D&C Standards, and key Brand Attributes. Collaboratively evaluate and improve GDS effectiveness and efficiencies. Support development of the design website with external webhost; evaluate functionality and user interface; develop content materials for site improvement. Document Review / Process & Project Management

Independently review property and project documents (design presentations, FF&E, GC drawings, and specs) for compliance with GDS and Brand standards. Prepare written and visual recommendations and approval documents; coordinate Luxury Brand team assembly. Provide mentorship to consultants for Managed and Franchised hotel owners and GMs through online project registration, design submittals, workshops, and design approvals; in some cases hotel GMs manage CAPEX renovations. Project and Document Tracking

Receive submittals, maintain design logs, manage design reviews, and ensure proper storage and retrieval of records. Monitor active projects to ensure timely delivery; handle administrative tasks such as meetings, minutes, responses, and design meeting scheduling. Coordinate with Brand, Operations, and Development teams to resolve issues. Communication & Presentation Support

Assist with presentations to senior executives and external stakeholders. Foster a collaborative team culture and proactive communication. Professional Attributes & Time Allocation

Commitment to collaborative teamwork; stay knowledgeable of industry trends relevant to Luxury Brand growth. Regularly tour properties to understand market context and inform design decisions. Participate in professional events for representation and career development. What are we looking for?

Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to diagram and document reviews (e.g., Bluebeam, hand sketches). Interpersonal networker who can influence partners and communicate clearly at all levels. Collaborative, organized teammate with ability to build trust and manage conflict. Proven project management and organizational skills; ability to deliver projects in a Luxury quality manner. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Minimum qualifications and experience

BA/BS in Architecture or Interior Architecture. Ten (10) years of experience in Hospitality Design within the Luxury sector. Experience with Bluebeam and Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). Knowledge of luxury hotel/resort architecture, interior design, FF&E specifications; accessibility and building codes. Ability to travel 40%. Desirable capabilities

Fifteen (15) years of Hospitality Design experience in Luxury, including hotel, corporate, and owner roles. Experience with Luxury Resort and Branded Residential real estate projects. Experience with SketchUp, AutoCAD or other 3D visualization software. Current Licensed Architect and/or Registered Interior Designer. EOE/AA/Disabled/Veterans.
