We’re looking for a visionary creative leader to join our Global Communications team to shape how eBay shows up visually and tell visual storytelling to the world. As Manager of Visual Communications & Merchandising, you’ll lead a team that brings stories to life across campaigns, executive communications, digital, events, and global merchandise programs (swag, Pop ups event). You’ll partner closely with our Brand Creative team to ensure every asset—whether a presentation, a campaign, or a piece of eBay swag—is bold, consistent, and impactful.
This is a high-visibility role where you’ll elevate design as a strategic capability, oversee global merchandise as part of our storytelling toolkit, and champion innovation (including the use of AI) to ensure our communications are as creative and influential as the stories we tell.
What You’ll Do
Lead and unify design and merchandising functions to deliver a cohesive creative identity across all communications and swag programs.
Partner with Brand Creative to co-develop and apply design systems that keep eBay’s storytelling consistent and distinctive.
Oversee eBay’s global merchandise strategy—swag, pop-ups, and event support—ensuring high-quality, on-brand experiences that strengthen culture and brand affinity.
Translate complex ideas into compelling visuals for campaigns, executives, employees, and global audiences.
Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing design and merchandising team.
Introduce new tools and technologies—including AI—to boost speed, creativity, and innovation.
Collaborate with senior leaders as a trusted advisor on visual storytelling.
Oversee creative resources, budgets, and external partners to deliver quality work at scale.
What You’ll Bring
10+ years of experience in visual communications, creative direction, or design leadership.
A strong portfolio showing expertise in brand storytelling and multi-channel creative work.
Proven ability and experience to lead and grow high-performing design teams.
Experience managing merchandise programs (swag, event activations, pop-ups) as part of a brand or communications strategy.
Experience collaborating with brand/creative teams to co-own design systems.
Curiosity and openness to leveraging AI and emerging creative tools.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach when needed.
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$140,800 - $188,000Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
