Director, Artist Development (Marketing/Digital) - AWAL

What you'll do

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships directly with artists and their teams while managing multiple active campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal AWAL teams (A&R, Global Commercial Partnerships, Sync, Brand Partnerships, Radio, Creative, International) to build innovative marketing campaigns that drive cultural impact, grow fanbases, and deliver tangible commercial results.
  • Work with artists to develop and implement creative digital marketing plans around releases and touring that grow audiences through compelling content, creator strategies, content seeding, alt and fan accounts, advertising, and related activities.
  • Maintain and build a network of external partners (content producers, creators, social strategists, marketing agencies, publicists) to hire and directly manage on campaigns.
  • Conceptualize and coordinate production of campaign creative and social content.
  • Craft and share marketing updates including artist propositions, audience segmentations, release strategy updates, project pitches, and data analysis.
  • Provide operational support to artist teams by setting up digital and physical releases and troubleshooting data, statements, and royalty questions.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance with internal and third-party tools to measure goals, derive learnings, and apply insights to campaigns.
  • Manage and administer marketing campaign budgets.
  • Regularly attend shows and travel, as needed.

Who you are

  • 6-8 years of experience in a marketing or digital marketing role at a music company with a track record working with artists across genres, with a focus on alternative/rock/indie/pop.
  • You love music and are passionate about AWAL’s mission to partner with independent artists to tell stories that shape culture.
  • You embrace creativity, aim high, push boundaries, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of the current music and social media landscape, trends, and fandom behavior with a willingness to experiment.
  • You take a hands-on approach to developing campaigns and maintain accountability for project success.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborative, working with artists, managers, team members, external partners, and senior management.
  • Motivated, able to work independently and with a large team.
  • Curious self-starter who seeks professional and personal development and welcomes new projects.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and delivering timely results.

New York Pay Range

$100,000 - $115,000 USD
