Overview

Answers telephones, greets callers professionally, and facilitates referrals to area physicians, hospitals, and community services. Listens to requests from patients or customers and dispatches information to the appropriate persons. Dispatches Emergency Codes using the Aionex Focus system and initiates offline procedures when indicated. Maintains equipment, activity logs, and checklists; answers multiple incoming telephone lines and transfers calls to the correct department or patient room extension. Provides information to callers as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones and greet callers professionally.
• Facilitate referrals to area physicians, hospitals, and community services.
• Listen to requests and accurately dispatch requests and information to the appropriate persons.
• Accurately communicate and dispatch Emergency Codes using the Aionex Focus system.
• Promptly initiate offline procedures when indicated.
• Maintain equipment, activity logs, and checklists.
• Answer multiple incoming telephone lines on the hospital switchboard.
• Obtain necessary information and transfer calls to the correct department or patient room extension.
• Provide information to callers as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education: High School/GED required.
• Experience: Previous experience in customer service, receptionist, or a dispatch role preferred.
• Additional Skills/Abilities: Must possess Keyboard/PC/Windows skills. Must be able to type 25 WPM. Automated telephone equipment operation skills desired. Excellent communication skills. Familiarity with medical terminology desired.
