Senior Editor, Latin & Español
Billboard, the leading entertainment brand covering music globally and the leading brand covering Latin music globally, is seeking a senior writer and editor to cover Latin music and the Latin music business, in English and Spanish. The candidate should have a demonstrable passion and deep knowledge of all genres of Latin music, an insatiable appetite for discovery, and the ability to handle tasks ranging from quick news to hosting a red carpet.

This position requires English-first writing, but the candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and able to work in Spanish and write/edit in Spanish as needed. They will report to Billboard’s Chief Content Officer for Latin and Español and work closely with the Deputy Editor for Billboard Español.

Key team structure: on-site collaboration with a Latin team and cross-department collaboration across Billboard’s verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily coverage of all aspects and genres of Latin music, with primary focus on daily Latin music news for Billboard.com and Billboardespanol.com. Target productivity: 3–5 stories per day (minimum).
  • Report and write high-level business stories and features for Billboard Pro and Billboard Magazine.
  • Translate copy between English and Spanish (and vice versa).
  • Collaborate with Billboard Español and Billboard copy/editorial staff to ensure published stories meet editorial standards.
  • Work with the Latin team and across Billboard’s verticals and departments.
  • Coordinate with Billboard’s video production team to cross-pollinate content and create original material as needed.
  • Collaborate with Billboard.com staff as part of a synchronized, collaborative team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience reporting in a fast-paced media outlet, with focus on music, entertainment and business.
  • Minimum 3+ years of editing and writing experience in music.
  • Fully bilingual journalist fluent in Spanish and English; impeccable written and spoken English and Spanish. A writing/editing test will be administered.
  • Degree in journalism or communications is preferred.
  • Fast, clear writer who can break news and produce in-depth features; multiple stories per day expected.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves, scrappy mentality with adaptability and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work across mediums: writing-first, but on-camera, doing interviews, and engaging on social media.
  • Passion and understanding of the Billboard brand and mission to deliver high-quality consumer and business news.
  • Knowledge of Latin music and music business across all genres.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and across departments.
  • Interest in the business of music, including industry players and financial aspects.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
  • Flexibility with work hours, including evenings, weekends, and after hours.

Work arrangement
