Overview
Join to apply for the Short Form Social Video Editor role at Trolley AI. Location: Remote. Type: Contractor (Part-Time, 20h/week, with potential to scale). Reports To: Project Manager & Production Lead.
Responsibilities
- Short-Form Video Editing: Edit engaging short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts using raw footage, screen recordings, and b-roll.
- Repurpose podcast episodes, interviews, and client content into platform-native clips.
- Add music, captions, animations, and effects that align with platform trends and brand guidelines.
- Format all videos for vertical (9:16) mobile-first viewing.
- Create visually dynamic, emotionally resonant edits that stop the scroll.
- Trend-Driven Content Ideation & Repurposing: Stay up to date with trends, memes, templates, and editing styles on TikTok and Reels.
- Propose new video concepts, remix formats, and smart hooks aligned to what’s working on social.
- Source creative audio or overlay ideas to enhance clips.
- Suggest how existing content (e.g., podcast clips, talking heads, b-roll) can be reshaped into new formats.
- Collaborate with the producer, content social creator and designer to translate ideas into high-performing visual content.
- Creative Judgment & Brand Alignment: Understand and interpret the tone, voice, and positioning of each client.
- Edit in a way that enhances speaker delivery, emotional beats, and narrative arcs.
- Identify standout moments from raw footage and recommend best use cases (Reel, Meme, Remix, etc.).
- Ensure edits remain on-brand and in sync with creative direction.
- Workflow & Delivery: Deliver final video files via Frame.io and maintain tasks in ClickUp.
- Ensure all exports are named and formatted correctly.
- Implement feedback swiftly and clearly.
- Collaborate with other editors and creative team members to meet weekly delivery goals.
- Founder Mode & AI-Immersed Editing: Leverage AI tools to streamline workflows, speed up editing, and enhance creative output (e.g., auto-captioning, trend analysis, cut detection).
- Act with ownership and initiative—propose edits, pitch ideas, and make strategic decisions without waiting for direction.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with producers, designers, and strategists to align on creative goals and improve content performance.
- Contribute trend insights, editing innovations, and platform learnings to the broader creative team.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Weekly delivery of 10-12 high-quality video clips.
- Proactive contribution of content ideas based on current trends.
- Timely turnaround of edits and feedback.
- Videos that maintain brand voice and perform well in platform metrics (engagement, shares, retention).
What You Bring
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years editing short-form video for social media platforms.
- Strong grasp of narrative pacing, rhythm, and visual storytelling.
- Advanced proficiency with editing tools: CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or native in-app editing.
- Familiarity with platform-specific trends and mechanics (hooks, cuts, subtitles, transitions).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple edits simultaneously.
- English proficiency and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience editing for digital creators, thought leaders, or social media brands.
- Background working with podcasts and transforming long-form content into short clips.
- Knowledge of meme culture and remix trends.
- Spanish fluency is a plus.
