Overview
The Media Specialist works to assist the creative team in managing the UTSA brand, create story-telling videos, assist as a photographer and content creator for various projects. Adheres closely to established policies and procedures to complete tasks. This role may be responsible for administration of low complexity departmental programs.
Essential Functions
The Media Specialist works to assist the creative team in managing the UTSA brand, create story-telling videos, assist as a photographer and content creator for various projects. Adheres closely to established policies and procedures to complete tasks. This role may be responsible for administration of low complexity departmental programs.
Core Responsibilities
- Assists with the department’s visual identity through video creative assets.
- Collaborates with the staff and student employees and provides knowledge and planning for media production.
- Assists with filming, set up and support for special events and projects.
- Supports overall vision and goals of the department through assisting with content development and execution of storytelling, community engagement and brand-building for distribution across the department’s social and digital channels.
- Assists with inventory for video equipment, tapes, and peripheral equipment and supplies; performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures for the efficient execution of special events.
- Maintains knowledge of current media technologies and provides recommendations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree from an accredited institution.
- At the department’s discretion additional experience may substitute for education on a one for one basis.
- Three (3) years of experience in multimedia show development and the programming, operation and maintenance of audio and video equipment.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary.
- Demonstrated technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Effective time management skills.
- Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound and editing.

- UTSA is a tobacco free campus.

- Valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable.
Working Conditions
- Office environment.
- May be required to work frequent evening and weekend hours.
Physical Demands
- Light work; up to 20 lbs. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
