Overview

Turnitin is a pioneer in education technology with its roots in academic integrity, delivering flexible assessment solutions to higher education institutions, high schools, and graduate programs. We are building innovative new products for the next decade of education and seek an experienced UX Researcher to help increase velocity in delivering knowledge, products, and capabilities that empower student outcomes with academic integrity. You will plan and execute end-to-end research projects and collaborate closely with product and engineering partners as well as the cross-functional UX team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently spearhead both small-scale and mid-sized research projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify and define research objectives
  • Equip designers, product managers, and other stakeholders with insights into user needs
  • Contribute to streamlining and enhancing the operational efficiency of the research team
  • Identify and employ the optimal channels for disseminating research findings
  • Plan and actively engage in participatory workshops
  • Champion and advocate for best practices in UX research across the organization
  • Present and communicate research insights to key decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Continuously seek feedback on research endeavors and actively provide feedback to peers

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human-computer interaction (HCI), statistics, social science, or equivalent professional experience
  • Knowledge and skills equivalent to 2–7 years of industry experience in UX research or related fields
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and analyzing quantitative research studies (e.g., large-scale surveys, product usage analysis, experimental designs, segmentation studies)
  • Strong statistical analysis skills with the ability to apply methods such as regression, factor analysis, significance testing, and clustering
  • Ability to independently manage end-to-end research projects from scoping and data collection through synthesis and communication
  • Experience integrating quantitative findings with qualitative insights to provide a holistic view of user needs
  • Demonstrated ability to transform data-driven insights into actionable product recommendations
  • Proven collaboration with cross-functional product and engineering teams
  • A strong research portfolio demonstrating multiple methods and outcomes

Desirable:

  • Prior experience conducting research within the education sector
  • Experience researching AI-related topics
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively in diverse teams

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $83,400/year to $139,000/year. This position is bonus eligible / commission-based. As a Remote-First company, actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer and depends on location and other factors such as experience, skills, degrees, licensures, and certifications. Internal equity, market, and organizational factors are also considered.
