ABOUT THE POSITION
The Digital Media Assistant supports CSR’s Youth, Purpose & Partnership (YPP) peer leadership program by guiding Peer Leaders (ages 14–18) in storytelling and digital media production. Working under the Digital Storytelling Lead Educator, the Assistant helps facilitate curriculum activities, mentors youth in multimedia techniques, and maintains a structured, inclusive learning environment. YPP’s school-year program runs ~24 weeks (Oct–May), and the summer program runs 6–8 weeks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in preparing and delivering digital storytelling workshops focused on film projects, podcasting, and multimedia narratives.
Support Peer Leaders in learning and using video / audio editing software, photography techniques, and graphic design tools.
Provide mentorship and one-on-one guidance during creative sessions and media production.
Manage and maintain digital equipment to ensure accessibility and readiness for Peer Leaders.
Offer feedback on youth-led projects to encourage skill development and creative expression.
Organize portfolio management and curate digital assets for student work.
Supervise media-related activities during field trips and off-site projects.
Participate in staff training, professional development sessions, and program events.
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment.
REQUIREMENTS Must-Haves
Boston residency.
Age 19–24 at the time of hire.
Background in digital media, storytelling, communications, film, or a related field.
Experience with multimedia editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva).
Experience operating video equipment (e.g., mirrorless / DSLR / film cameras).
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Comfort mentoring high-school–age youth and working in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
Ability to work the program schedules listed below (subject to confirmation with supervisor).
Nice-to-Haves
Experience supporting youth-led media projects or community storytelling.
Basic audio engineering / podcasting and social video skills.
Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
$20 / hour.
School year (max 15 hrs / week): Monday–Friday, 4:30 PM–7:30 PM.
Summer (max 25 hrs / week): Monday 9:30 AM–11:30 AM; Tuesday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:30 PM.
