Works with stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements for a set of features. Creates a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring quality of solutions, defines success criteria for tests (e.g., unit tests), and manages tests to improve coverage in the feature area. Designs and implements code for products, services, or features, emphasizing extensibility, maintainability, diagnosability, reliability, and defect reduction. Applies coding patterns and best practices. Supports debugging efforts by examining logs, telemetry, and other data to verify assumptions proactively and reactively; conducts retrospective debugging to identify root causes. Contributes to automation within production and deployment of complex product features; runs code in simulated or non-production environments to confirm functionality with minimal oversight. Maintains communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem to align product development with partner goals and user experiences. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience working at low levels of software stack, graphics, device driver development, engineering systems, validation systems, and/or integration of hardware and software. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. These include specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; OR Master’s Degree with 2+ years of related experience; OR equivalent experience. 4+ years of experience at low levels of software stack, device driver development, engineering systems, and/or hardware/software integration. Knowledge and experience with graphics and GPU hardware. Experience in operating system development (user-mode or kernel-mode). Strong communication and customer interfacing skills and ability to handle ambiguity and prioritize issues. Compensation and Benefits

Software Engineering IC3 — typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD 100,600 to 199,000 per year. Different ranges apply to certain locations (San Francisco Bay Area and NYC metro), with base pay ranges of USD 131,400 to 215,400 per year for those locations.
